Level .5: Prevention

This early intervention component is intended for clients who have had some difficulty with alcohol, but who do not have an established pattern of abuse. Harbor Hall provides in-school prevention services that address a wide variety of topics related to addictive problems. The goal of this level of care is to increase the participants' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drugs, and to assist them in making healthy choices regarding any future use of alcohol and drugs. The program also provides an intervention process utilizing the research-based curriculum "Reconnecting Youth: A Peer Group Approach to Building Life Skills."

As advocates for substance abuse prevention and treatment we have collaborated with other Human Services Boards, Committees and Agencies to develop Intervention Sessions aimed at high-risk groups with the goal of establishing a positive environmental change.

The Harbor Hall Prevention Program is available for schools located in the following areas: Mackinaw City, Pellston, Alanson/Littlefield, Indian River, Wolverine and Petoskey.
